Lubi Solar Launch PERC Solar Panels! Latest PERC Technology in India

Research side, has seen significant technical advancement, resulting in the development of more efficient solar panels. However the technical advance has not reflected well on solar panel construction on the commercial front, with the same old technologies being used.
Many of the newer technologies are struggling to see daylight on the commercial front owing to the higher production costs. The market many time has failed to acknowledge the increased value against the cost differential, owing to extreme competitive pressures. This has resulted in the industry holding on to the more commercially viable older technologies due to limited acceptance by the markets.
The more commonly used cell technology is the Aluminum Back Surface Field aka Al-BSF. However the Al-BSF is seeing a practically impregnable limit with reference to making any gains in the efficiency. Large scale projects have constantly asked for efficient modules, that are also commercially viable, considering the price pressures on the projects.
A new technology that has seen reasonable adoption is Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact aka PERC. PERC cells have unlocked access to higher module powers upto 365 W.
The PERC cell basically has two variants based on the doping; n-type and p-type. The PERC cell has come as a natural progression to the Al-BSF cell, utilizing almost similar inputs and manufacturing processes. Also the module manufacturing process doesn’t change much, using PERC cells. This has helped keep up with commercial requirements of business.
PERC Technology Unlocked
The PERC technology aims to enhance cell efficiency by increasing the cells ability to make optimum use of the projected irradiation. In the traditional AL-BSF technology the projected light is not utilized optimally due to electron recombination where a free flow of electron is blocked, reducing the realizable efficiency.
This shortcoming of AL-BSF technology is overcome by introducing a dielectric passivation layer allowing passive reflection of the projected light, thereby increasing the probability of electron engagement for energy generation. This phenomenon pushes the realizable efficiency bracket higher, allowing superior generation.
PERC cell construction is fairly straightforward and does not differ much from that of a AL-BSF cell. With not much cost addition at built-point, and enhanced efficiency, PERC cell allows a superior value proposition.
The PERC Cell are basically of two types: p-type and n-type.
In a p-type the cell is built around a positively charged base. This involves doping the wafer with boron, which has an electron deficit compared to silicium. In a n-type, the wafer is doped with phosphorous, which has one electron more than silicium. This process helps creating a p-n junction that will enable the flow of electricity in the cell.
