In the recently declared state budget, Gujarat government announced a new scheme for promoting rooftop solar installation on residences across the state.
Under this scheme the state has provisioned subsidy of 40% for upto 3 KW and a subsidy of 20% on incremental installations above 3KW and upto 10KW. This scheme is being targeted to benefit over 2 lakh households in the FY 2019-20. The Gujarat government targets to cover over 8 lakh households in the FY 2020-21.
Earlier the scheme was supposed to cater only residential installations. However. several relaxations have been made and the scheme is now covering group housing societies and residential welfare associations.
Under the scheme, an average common man shall be able to produce electricity by setting up photovoltaic systems on his rooftop or anywhere on his residential premises.
Under the net metering scheme a common household can sell the additional power to the power distribution company at 2.25 INR/unit to the government for 25 years. The state government has stated to have made a provision of 1000 INR crores in the current budget towards successful implementation of the project.
The state government has also made special provision to facilitate registration of households in this project. To install rooftop plants, the households may register interest on ismartsolar.in/gujarat/interestform.
As per the latest project guidelines the prices have been fixed from 46 INR to 34 INR for systems ranging from 1KW to 100KW. So the households can easily avail the benefits of this scheme, as at this rate, the return on investment can be realised faster making cost of power virtually zero in 3-4 years.
To ensure optimum returns, it is very essential to ensure that the system operates at prime efficiency.
The solar panels, being the prime component of the solar power plant, the efficiency of the plant is majorly effected by the efficiency of the solar panels, hence it becomes imperative to ensure the quality of solar panels used in the system. The premium brands like LUBI, Vikram, EMVEE etc having adequate manufacturing expertise and supply history shall be tapped for this.
